Google voice account??

Google voice account??

Now I am confused by what I am reading on the google website.
I thought that google allows you to have different phone numbers in different states that all connect to one phone number on your mobile phone. Does it do that? From what I am reading, having multiple numbers means someone can only leave a voice mail and then you have to call them back. I need some help on this please.

Are you saying that GV

Are you saying that GV supply's multiple phone #'s to ring back to what ever phone # we choose? Or are you saying that there's multiple GV accounts?

Travis

Thats what I understood from the site. That GV supplies multiple phone numbers to lead back to one number.
What I want to be able to have is, multiple numbers that ring one phone.

I never seen that. I have to

I never seen that. I have to read up on that. I did looked over a few 800 #'s and they provide a service like that.

Travis

What is your understanding? That each account is allowed only one number? From the site I understand that one number will ring multiple PHONES. Will I be able to my keep my number and also have the GV number, that will both ring my phone? I also seem to remember Matt Larson saying that you can get a GV number because it is untraceable and that the regular number and the GV number will ring the phone. He didn't say anything about multiple phone numbers ringing one phone though.

My understanding of google voice is that you get a local number and you can link that number to multiple other phone numbers (landline, cell) you currently have. When a person calls your google voice number, all your phones linked to that number will ring. As Matt suggested you can use GV number on your bandit signs and it cannot be traced back to your cell or landline which is pretty good.

So Google voice won't allow you to have multiple phone numbers that ring one phone?
Thanks for the info!

That is correct. GV allows you to have a free virtual local number that can ring any phone you wish. If you try to register a second GV number to a single device... it will de-register the first GV number from that device. I only know this because, that's what happened to me last night. : )

I just registered a local number and have it forwarded to my cell phone for my bandit signs and marketing material.

You may have already reviewed this but, here is some more information on GV.

Hope this helps.

Ohhh...

@Thishousebuyer so maybe back when Matt was using GV, you COULD have multiple numbers ring one phone.

@WWillc thanks for testing that out Smiling. Now I'm wondering if my phone browser will even connect to google, or if I have to get a smartphone, like Iphone 4, or Blackberry. DOOM Sad. I'm pretty sure it will though. Thanks for the links
